Tyler Perry Plans White House Drama Series
Tyler Perry has received a straight-to-series order for the White House drama “The Oval” at BET. The series will follow a new first family moving into the residence.
Ed Quinn (“Eureka,” “2 Broke Girls”) will star as U.S. President Hunter Franklin, Kron Moore (“Into the Storm”) will play First Lady Victoria Franklin, while Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson play their children.
Perry says the series aims to tell “the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.”
The series is written, directed and executive produced by Perry while Michelle Sneed will also serve as executive producer. The series is the first under Perry’s new content deal with Viacom.
