The Lincoln Lawyer’ Drama From David E. Kelley & A+E Studios Gets CBS Series Production Commitment
CBS has handed out a series production commitment for “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a legal drama series based on Michael Connelly’s series of bestselling novels.
The story follows Mickey Haller, an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. Lionsgate previously produced a film adaptation in 2011 starring Matthew McConaughey as Haller.
In Connelly’s novels, Haller is the half-brother of LAPD Detective Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch with those novels being adapted into Amazon’s successful series “Bosch” starring Titus Welliver. That show was just renewed for a sixth season and isn’t expected to crossover with the CBS series.
“Boston Legal” and “The Practice” creator and “Big Little Lies” writer David E. Kelley will spearhead the “Lincoln Lawyer” project, writing and executive producing with Connelly and Ross Fineman. The project marks Kelley’s return to broadcast TV with A+E Studios and CBS TV Studios producing it.
