Javier Bardem In Talks For Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Remake

According to Deadline Oscar-winner Javier Bardem is in talks to join the live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” at Walt Disney Pictures.

Bardem is reportedly circling the role of King Triton, the father of Ariel (Halle Bailey) in the Rob Marshall directed film which boasts a script by David Magee based on a draft by Jane Goldman.

Bardem’s reported negotiations comes hot on the heels of the news yesterday that “Dunkirk” actor and musician Harry Styles is in talks for the role of Prince Eric.

Melissa McCarthy is also starring as the villain Ursula in the project which will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Miranda is also producing the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.
