James Gunn's The Suicide Squad Adds Nathan Fillion in Mystery Role
According to Deadline “Firefly” and “Castle” star Nathan Fillion is set to join James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films.
Fillion’s role is under wraps, but he has had a long history of working with Gunn – starring in 2006’s “Slither,” 2010’s “Super” and voicing a monstrous prison inmate in 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
Fillion currently stars in ABC’s “The Rookie” which kicks off its second season on September 29th and his filming commitments to that means it’s likely he’ll only have a small role.
Fillion has plenty of familiarity with DC properties, voicing Green Lantern in several DC animated features.
Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis are reprising their roles, while they are joined by Elba, David Dastmalchian, Steve Agee, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg, Storm Reid and potentially John Cena.
Peter Safran and Charles Roven are producing the film which aims to begin production September 23rd ahead of an August 6th 2021 release.
