Dwayne Johnson Says He’s Down To Join The Deadpool Franchise
Spoilers for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, in theaters now.
As the future star of Black Adam has let it be known that he’s totally up for taking on the role of Garrison Kane in the Deadpool universe. (Spoiler) After Ryan Reynolds' hilarious cameo in Hobbs & Shaw, it's no secret Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the Deadpool star have great on-screen chemistry.
In an Instagram post, Rob Liefeld, one of Deadpool’s creators, ran the idea past Dwayne Johnson, saying:
Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment. You’re a natural and Kane is already celebrated by millions of comics fans who have thrilled to his adventures since I first introduced him in X-Force #2! Your pal, Rob!
Johnson seemed interested in the proposal, replying,
"Dearest Rob, thank you amigo. It’s true, in @HobbsAndShaw, I have insanely outstanding chemistry with our familiar friend. Since you created the characters, how does one Garrison Kane get alone with one?"
Garrison Kane, for those unfamiliar with the name, first appeared in the 1991 comic X-Force #2. He was a former member of Cable’s mercenary team who loses his limbs during a battle of some sort. The Weapon X program, the same one who created Deadpool, then gave him cybernetic replacements.
