Alison Schapker Inks Overall Deal With Skydance TV, Named Sole Showrunner Of ‘Altered Carbon
According to Deadline, “Altered Carbon” executive producer Alison Schapker has signed an exclusive, multi-year overall production deal with Skydance Television. In the process, Schapker is taking over as sole showrunner on the second season of the Netflix sci-fi series.
She originally joined the series as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside creator, executive producer, and first season showrunner Laeta Kalogridis. Kalogridis’ role has now been reduced, but she will continue to serve as executive producer on the new season which is currently in production.
Kalogridis wrote the season opener while Schapker will pen the finale. The new season introduces Anthony Mackie as the new Takeshi Kovacs, taking over the role from Joel Kinnaman in the first season. Renee Elise Goldsberry, Simone Missick, Chris Conner, Dina Shihabi, Torben Liebrecht and James Saito also star.
Schapker, who previously worked on shows such as “Fringe” “Lost,” “Almost Human” and “Scandal,” will also develop and produce original scripted series for Skydance.
